Carbon Hosting Terms of Service

Document date: 2026-10-15

Version date: 2026-10-15

The service

Carbon Hosting provides Minecraft server hosting and general game server rental hosting on the operator's platform. When you rent a server, it runs on that platform, and the operator provides the platform, the network, the storage, and the backups to the extent of the plan you purchased. You manage your rented server yourself, through the client area and the server panel.

These terms describe the rental of a server on this platform. Nothing else is promised: the service is what these terms and your plan actually say it is.

Carbon Hosting is the trade name of the operator of this service. Who the operator is, which law governs these terms, and where disputes are heard are set out in Operator and governing law (clause 2.13).

Accounts

You provide accurate information when you create your account, and you keep it accurate.

Your account belongs to you, the client: the person and billing identity behind the account. That is how these terms define the client.

Keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account.

An account may be suspended or terminated exactly as these terms provide.

Orders, billing, and renewals

The prices and cycle prices that apply to your order are the prices shown at checkout, and the checkout governs what you pay. The checkout shows the full amount due, and all amounts are charged in United States dollars.

Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Billing cycles and their discounts are shown at checkout before you pay.

Promotional codes apply exactly as stated at checkout and in clause 2.8.

Add-ons cancel for future cycles exactly as clause 2.4 says.

Your server rental

When you rent a server, you rent a server instance on the operator's platform for the term you paid for. Your rental gives you a license to use that rented server: a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use it within the limits of your plan, during the paid period, subject to these terms and the Acceptable Use Policy.

Within that license, you may run your server and its content within the limits of your plan, under these terms and applicable law.

You may not resell the hosting service itself, and you may not resell the rented server as your own hosting. You may not circumvent the limits of the platform or its security. You may not use the server in ways these terms do not allow.

Your content stays yours, always. Ownership of the worlds, files, and other content you create or upload stays with you under these terms.

To provide the service, you grant the operator exactly the rights needed to provide it: storing your content, copying it for backups, and serving it through the platform.

Acceptable use

The Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms and is incorporated by reference. Violations are handled under the Acceptable Use Policy and under the Termination chapter of these terms.

Refunds, cancellations, non-payment, and payment disputes

References in these terms to a numbered clause mean the clause with that number in these terms.

2.1 The money-back guarantee

Every client gets our money-back guarantee one time. For 72 hours after your first invoice is paid in full, you can ask for your money back and you receive a full refund of the entire prepaid amount of that first invoice. No fee is subtracted from the refund: nothing is taken out, no fees, no charges, no adjustments of any kind. You do not need to give a reason. A refund under the guarantee is paid back to the original payment method you paid with.

The guarantee belongs to you, the client (the person and billing identity behind the account). It can be used one time in full, and the once-per-client limit is absolute. After it is used there is no second use and no second goodwill refund of any kind, for any reason, through anyone: not through a ticket, not through an email, not through anything else we operate.

2.2 When the 72-hour window starts

The window starts the moment your first invoice is paid in full. The clock is the payment. In our normal operation, payment and provisioning happen in the same minute, so the payment is the only thing the clock needs. We state the start once here and nowhere else, and the page copy says the same thing.

2.3 What the guarantee covers

The guarantee covers the entire prepaid cycle of the first invoice, however long: monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual first invoices all refund in full inside the 72-hour window. There is no cycle-length cap and no subtraction for any part of the cycle.

The guarantee also covers add-ons purchased on that first invoice: the extra port allocation, extra storage, and Backup Plus add-ons bought together with the first invoice ride the same window and refund together with it.

2.4 Add-ons at any later time

Add-ons on the first invoice are covered by the guarantee (clause 2.3). Add-ons bought at any later time, on any later invoice or any later purchase, are non-refundable, period.

Later add-ons stay cancellable for future cycles only: you can cancel one from your control panel and it stops being billed from the next cycle, but nothing already paid for a later add-on is refundable.

2.5 What the guarantee does not cover

The guarantee does not cover exactly these two things, and nothing else:

  • Renewals. The guarantee covers one invoice, the first one. Every invoice after it is a renewal: cancellable, not refundable.
  • Anything after the 72 hours. No refund and no prorated credit for time you did not use; instead, you keep the service until the paid period ends and you can cancel any time (clause 2.10).

There is no other exclusion and no other exception on this list. The corrective refunds in clause 2.7 are not part of the guarantee and do not count against it; they are money owed for our mistakes or errors, and they work separately (clause 2.7).

2.6 No discretionary refund path

Besides the guarantee (clauses 2.1 through 2.5) and the corrective refunds in clause 2.7, there is no discretionary refund path at all. There are no goodwill refunds. There is no staff discretion to grant or promise refunds: no case-by-case exceptions, no unpublished allowances, and no partial refunds. No staff member, email, or ticket reply can promise a refund outside this clause set. A refund happens only as these clauses provide, or it does not happen.

2.7 Corrective (owed) refunds

Corrective (owed) refunds are separate from the guarantee and are limited to exactly these two cases:

  1. A duplicate payment by billing error: a payment was taken more than once for the same thing.
  2. A payment for a service that was never provisioned because of a fault on our side: you paid, and the service could not be created or delivered because of something wrong on our end.

There is no third corrective refund. These are labeled corrective (owed) refunds because the money is owed: it was never a valid sale. That is also the rule that connects them to the guarantee: the once-per-client limit does not apply to money that was never a valid sale, and it never did. Using a corrective refund does not spend the guarantee, and a corrective refund does not need the guarantee. A corrective refund is paid back to the original payment method.

2.8 CARBON25 and refunded first invoices

The CARBON25 code gives 25 percent off the first invoice only. It rides on that invoice: if the first invoice is refunded under the guarantee, the code is used up for that client. If the same client returns and hosts with us again, they pay list price, and no new code is issued for them.

2.9 Non-payment: suspension and deletion

  • An unpaid invoice is due when it says it is due.
  • If a payment fails or is declined, we suspend the service immediately, at the payment failure itself: there is no grace period before the suspension.
  • The server is deleted 7 days after suspension. Deletion removes the server and all of its backups. Deleted data and backups are irrecoverable.
  • Paying the overdue invoice before deletion reactivates the server as it was. Reactivation never costs a fee.
  • A suspension for non-payment does not extend the 72-hour guarantee window and does not create a refund right.

When a non-payment suspension happens, the client receives exactly these four emails, and no other automated notification emails are promised:

  1. At the moment of suspension: service suspended, will be deleted in 7 days.
  2. When 3 days remain before deletion.
  3. When 24 hours remain before deletion.
  4. After deletion has occurred: confirmation that all data and backups are gone.

2.10 Self-serve cancellation

  • Cancel any time from your control panel: no notice period, no cancellation fee, and no requirement to tell us before a renewal date.
  • Your server keeps running until the end of the period you already paid for. Then it stops, and no further invoices are issued.
  • Your world and server data are kept for 7 days after the paid period ends, so you can export or come back. After that they are deleted and cannot be recovered.

2.11 Chargebacks and disputes

  • Talk to us first. A support ticket or an email reaches us at any hour, and almost every payment problem has a faster answer than a payment dispute.
  • A payment dispute (a chargeback) happens when the payment is contested directly with the payment provider. When a chargeback arrives, we automatically suspend ALL of that client's servers at once, and the account is disabled.
  • For 7 days after that suspension, the client may download (export) their servers. Download and export are the only access that remains in those 7 days: the servers cannot be used for anything else.
  • After those 7 days, ALL of that client's servers are deleted, including all backups, irrecoverably. This is the same deletion mechanic as clause 2.9.
  • After that deletion, the client is permanently banned from purchasing any new servers, forever.
  • While a payment dispute is open, we cannot refund anything outside the dispute process: that is a rule of the payment networks, not our choice.

2.12 How to ask, and how a refund arrives

Ask by support ticket, by email, or with a reply to your invoice. Refunds go back to the original payment method only, through the payment provider. For card payments that is the card you paid with; a closed or replaced card still routes back to you through your bank. How fast the money arrives depends on the payment provider and the bank behind your payment method, which we do not control; no refund speed is promised beyond that.

Termination

This chapter describes how an account or a server can end.

Self-serve cancellation. You can cancel any time exactly as clause 2.10 provides: you cancel from your control panel, there is no notice period and no cancellation fee, and your server keeps running until the end of the period you already paid for. What happens to your data after cancellation follows clause 2.10 and the Privacy Policy.

Termination for cause. The operator may suspend or terminate a client's account and servers for conduct that violates the Acceptable Use Policy, for illegal content or illegal use of the service, or for abuse of the platform. The client is informed by email or through the client area. Termination for cause does not entitle the client to a refund.

Payment-related enforcement. Enforcement for non-payment is exactly as set out in clause 2.9. Enforcement during a payment dispute is exactly as set out in clause 2.11.

Data and privacy

How the operator handles personal data, how long data is kept, and which sub-processors the operator uses are set out in the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is part of these terms and is incorporated by reference, together with the cookie notice.

Changes to these terms

Changes to these terms are posted with an updated version date. Material changes are also announced through the client area or by email before they take effect.

If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, that means you accept the changed terms. If you do not agree to a change, you can stop using the service and cancel any time exactly as clause 2.10 provides.

Operator and governing law (clause 2.13)

  • "Carbon Hosting" is the trade name of the operator of this service. In these terms, "the operator" means whoever operates the Carbon Hosting service: the person running it under the trade name today, or, should the operation ever change or grow into one, the person or company that operates the service under that trade name. These terms keep working without any rewrite if the operator's name changes, or if the service is later operated by a company.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Any dispute under these terms is brought only in the state and federal courts located in Pittsburgh, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, which have exclusive venue.
